1. Patong Beach
Patong Beach is Phuket’s most famous beach, offering a typical Thailand stretch of coastline with pristine white sands, coconut palms and mountainous scenery. The beach offers more activities than all other beaches on the island, including exciting water sports such as banana boat rides, jet skiing and parasailing. By night, Phuket’s night scene really thrives behind Patong Beach with endless bars, restaurants and clubs.
2. Freedom Beach
This stretch of secluded coastline is lined with large granite rocks and lush green hills, so there is a lot of scenic beauty to admire. You have to pay a small entrance fee to Freedom Beach and it is only accessible either via a steep jungle footpath or long tail boat, but this is what makes it so exclusive. Both ends of the beach have shallow waters with some beautiful underwater flora and marine life.

If you’re looking for a beach that has it all, then look no further than Kata Beach. This stunning stretch of coastline has soft white sands and clean waters, and it’s around 1.5km long, so it feels a lot less crowded than other beaches on the island. There are plenty of dining, shopping and nightlife opportunities at Kata Beach, as well as great surfing and snorkelling areas.
4. Surin Beach
Surin Beach is not your typical tourist beach, instead it is an upper class haven of luxury hotels and resorts with sophisticated wine bars and restaurants, a golf course and breath-taking ocean views. The beach is a well-known celebrity hotspot and also a very chilled out spot, with the only activities on offer being cooking classes and 5* spas that are attached to hotels.
5. Karon Beach
Karon Beach offers a glorious stretch of unspoilt sands with plenty of space to relax and sunbathe. The beach provides a happy medium for visitors, as it is not too loud or crowded, but there is dining, shopping and nightlife nearby at Karon Village, so although Karon isn’t as lively as Patong, it still provides great entertainment. The beach has plenty of diving and snorkelling sports as well as a weekly market.
